How the Internet Enables Intimacy

I watched a video on How the Internet Enables Intimacy at the following URL: http://www.ted.com/talks/stefana_broadbent_how_the_internet_enables_intimacy.html

This video is unique in that it goes into the essence of what we gain through social media however unbeknownst to us. Stefana Broadbent explores and explains the euphoria we receive through instant messaging, social media posting and the like. The thing about this that video that hit home is that we really only communicate consistently with 4-5 individuals although we may have 5 - 600 friends on our list. That is where the intimacy lies and there it does lie.

Stefana ended her presentation by suggesting today's corporations under the guise of "security" and "protection" are beginning to take away our personal and intimate moments with our family and friends through the blocking of certain websites and features that are in use today. This ultimately takes us back about 50 years in our ability to be happy and perform a job.
